Twinkie Diet Works

Written by Pat's Papers | Tuesday, 9 November 2010 7:54 AM

A nutrition professor from Kansas just proved a secret that mothers have successfully kept from generations of their children—that you actually can subsist on junk food. Not only that, you can lose weight doing it says the USA Today. The experimental diet consisted of a “Twinkie every three hours, occasionally alternating with Little Debbie snacks, Doritos and Oreos for variety.” It was a study to see if calorie counting was more important that actual fat intake. And it turned out, it was.

After the 5-foot-10 man limited his diet to 1800 calories a day, he dropped 27 pounds, lowered his body fat almost 10 percent and cut his bad cholesterol by 20 percent. He says his results don’t mean you should try a junk food diet, but simply highlight the point that you don’t need to give up the things you love to lose weight.

If you’re thinking about trying the Twinkie diet, here are some recipes from Hostess—Twinkie sushi, anyone?
