Good Morning, City

I’ve made the 4 am journey to NY1 about 4000 times since I started as morning anchor in 1997. So, when I met with Janine O’Malley at Farrar, Straus and Giroux two years ago to discuss ideas for a picture book, she quickly zeroed in on morning as my focus.

Our collaboration resulted in “Good Morning, City” and I’m excited that it’s just weeks away from release. It wouldn’t be much of anything if not for the illustrations of Pascal Campion. Janine knew about his work from his “Sketch of the Day” blog, and we agreed immediately that he’d be a perfect fit for the book.

“Good Morning, City” is available for pre-order now, and you’ll find it in bookstores starting November 15th. We timed the release to fall after the election and before the holidays, because it’s a perfect gift for anyone in the 2 to 6 age range. Then, from November 15th to 28th, my publisher’s parent company Macmillan is partnering with The New York Foundling to make a donation for every book sold. I’m a member of The Foundling’s board and the child-focused programs are a perfect match for this partnership.

We’ve been busy making plans for bookstore and school events, including our launch event on November 19th at the Barnes & Noble flagship store in Union Square. (FULL Calendar of Events)

I have some fresh publicity photos to go along with all of this.
