Taco Bell: “Thank You for Suing Us”

Yo no te quiero. Wow, I wonder they really feel. The executives of Taco Bell took out a full-page ad in several US papers this morning with the blazing headline, “Thank You for Suing Us.” The company has been embroiled in charges recently that the beef it uses is not really meat. An Alabama law firm in suing the fast food chain, claiming that the meat it uses is only 35 percent USDA grade beef. The rest, they say, is a combination of soy and oats. To set the record straight, Taco Bell published what it says are the true components in their special blend. In case, you’d like to recreate the recipe at home, here it is:

“We start with USDA-inspected quality beef (88%),” Taco Bell said in an ad signed by company president Greg Creed. “Then add water to keep it juicy and moist (3%). Mix in Mexican spices and flavors including salt, chili pepper, onion powder, tomato powder, sugar, garlic powder and cocoa powder (4%). Combine a little oats, caramelized sugar, yeast, citric acid and other ingredients that contribute to the flavor, moisture, consistency and quality of our seasoned beef.”
