Swype Method Makes Typing Easier on Touch Screens

As traditional keyboards disappear and are replaced with touch screen versions, it takes more time and energy to fix all the typos that find their way into messages. The New York Times says the inventor behind the innovation that created predictive text has designed a system that allows touch screen users to trace a pattern through a keyboard’s letters instead of using the traditional hunt and peck method. Called Swype, the program doesn’t require the short hand that the Palm Pilots did. Swype’s inventor says he thinks the technology could go far beyond smartphones and could be used in the next generation of TV, video games and navigation systems.
