Study: Studies Need More Studies

The New York Times says a group of scientists have come to “a rather shocking result,” namely that a study of studies has shown that there needs to be more studies. Did you get that? In slightly less confusing terms, a study of published clinical studies shows that more than half of them do not cite previous studies conducted on the same topic. The problem, according to the current study’s authors, is that everyone wants to think of their research as unique, a mindset that they call not only “unprofessional” but also “unethical.”

Read an abstract of the study, published today in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
