“Speed Trap Paul Revere” Sues for Right to Flash Headlights

A Florida man says it’s his constitutionally-protected right to flash his headlights at oncoming drivers, warning them of speed traps ahead. And now, the St. Petersburg Times reports, the “speed trap Paul Revere,” is taking his battle to court. He has filed a lawsuit on behalf of every driver in the state of Florida that has received a ticket in the last six years for inappropriately flashing their lights. The man, 38-year-old Erich Campbell, contends that there is no law on the books that forbades flashing one’s lights. He says state troopers routinely “misinterpret” the law, simply to punish watchdog drivers.
