Photos: Tornado Rips NC Houses “To Pieces”

There are some shocking photos coming out of North Carolina this morning, where several tornadoes destroyed hundreds of buildings over the weekend. The Fayetteville Observer prints a photo that clearly shows the cyclone’s path, shredding several houses while leaving others nearby intact. Two tornadoes tore at least 167 houses “to pieces” in the North Carolina county; another 144 sustained serious damage. At least 22 people were killed by the Saturday storms.

The New York Daily News prints a stunning aerial photo of tornado damage at a Lowe’s in Sanford, North Carolina. Somehow there was enough warning that the manager got everybody into a secure area at the back of the store:
