Know How Many Calories You Need to Lose Weight


USA Today has some advice for all of you counting calories this New Year: you have to know how many calories you need to actually lose weight. Experts say most Americans have no idea how many calories it takes to maintain a healthy weight. In general, a sedentary woman can consume 1500 a day and a sedentary man can get away with 1800. To lose a pound a week you need to make sure you have a 500-calorie deficit each day, either by eating less or adding exercise to your routine.

USA Today also put together a good list of their top 25 weight-loss tips from over the years.
