The team that screens and moderates user-submitted content at PatsPapers.com consists of me and producer Caitlin Drexler. But I’ve learned today that for bigger sites “content review” is a business in itself. The New York Times tells the story of people who spend the entire day looking at user-generated content to filter out porn and violence. Despite efforts to develop software to find flesh tones, content screening experts say there’s so far no replacement for the human eye.
