Dental Debate: To Fill or Not to Fill “Microcavities”


There is a debate waging in the world of dentistry, says the New York Times, over something called “microcavities.” Some doctors like to put in a filling at the first sign of structural damage to the enamel, even though those “microcavities” don’t always turn into full blown ones. Others say jumping the gun costs patients too much money and subjects them to a life of refilling.
