WikiLeaks Employee Defects to Start OpenLeaks

I wonder if Julian Assange intercepted any cables about this. The New York Times reports this morning that one of Assange’s former employees has broken away from Wikileaks to start his own renegade information sharing website, OpenLeaks. Saying they represent a “revised vision of radical transparency,” the site was set up in hopes of avoiding the “influence of a single figurehead.” The difference will be that OpenLeaks will not handle leaked documents itself—its role will solely be to act as a “neutral conduit to connect leakers with media and human rights organizations.” The site is set to go live this summer.
