Why ‘I Love You’ is Hard to Say

Surprise, surprise: ‘Love Ya’ doesn’t have the same emotional impact as looking deep into someone’s eyes and saying ‘I love you.’ The Wall Street Journal says most of us have come up with “easy-breezy (read: “safe”) ways to express our affection” because we grew up in environments where it wasn’t said. Or because we’re scared the feeling won’t be reciprocated. Or just because we feel like our feelings could be better expressed with say, a heart-shaped box of chocolates. Whatever your reason, if you’d like some help mustering the three words, the Journal has some tips. Pretend like you’re a child is one. Show, don’t tell, is another.
