White House Releases Obama’s Long-Form Birth Certificate

Written by Pat's Papers | Wednesday, 27 April 2011 9:42 AM

The White House just released President Obama’s long-form birth certificate reports the Washington Post. Just like the one released by his campaign during the 2008 election, this one shows the president was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu. But, in a nod to the growing birther cacophony, this copy includes the “signature of an attendant who witnessed the birth and a local registrar, as well as a certificate number.” State usually do not release the long-form version of the birth certificates they issue. But Hawaii decided to bend the rules to quell any questions of the president’s citizenship. For his part, President Obama said he released the document because he thought “the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country.”
