Welcome to the DMV

Welcome to the DMV. For those not in the know, that’s an abbreviation: “D for the District, M for Maryland, and V for Virginia.” It’s also the cool new way to refer to the nation’s capital says the Washington Post. DC, it turns out, has felt left out all these years listening to New Yorkers talk about their Big Apple and Chicagoans go on and on about how windy it is in their hometown. It’s unclear where “DMV” gets its roots. Some say it comes from hip-hop, others say it’s based on the way Craigslist has always abbreviated the area. But one thing is certain—as the area has grown, people from Richmond to Baltimore are beginning to claim their part of the DMV, a situation which has led the ‘D’ contingent to wonder, “Is there really that much M and V in the DMV?”

In the event I decide to retire to Hawaii, maybe this place will hire me.
