School Icon Weekly Reader Shuts Down

Another classic newspaper has hit hard times, reports the New York Post this morning. Classroom staple Weekly Reader is shutting down, after its rival Scholastic bought the school publication earlier this year and laid off all but five employees. At its peak, Weekly Reader had 13 millions subscribers, though in recent years those number had fallen under one million.
