US Savings Bonds Go Paperless

Written by Pat's Papers | Friday, 3 September 2010 9:58 AM

Uncle Sam is getting hip to the times. USA Today reports this morning that US Savings Bonds will go paperless at the end of September. It’s the end of an era for anyone who grew up watching Uncle Sam hawk the paper bonds on TV.  Most of the electronic bonds will be given to investors who opt to buy them with payroll deductions. Paper bonds will still be available for those who want to give them as gifts. The Treasury says it hopes to phase them out completely in the near future but has yet to set a date.
