Modern Sportsmanship, via Twitter

It probably took him 20 seconds to do it. But Jason Gay of the Wall Street Journal says “as a modern act of sportsmanship, it was far-reaching.” He’s talking about the picture Rory McIlroy tweeted en route to Malaysia. It shows the smiling 21-year-old golfer with his arm around Charl Schwartzel, who won this year’s Masters tourney after McIlroy flamed out in spectacular fashion. The caption reads: “Glad one of us has a green jacket on!!!”

Writes Gay: “Few would have faulted McIlroy if he’d wanted to disappear for a few days. No one would have been shocked if he’d stormed past everyone after his disastrous round…But McIlroy was polite, even philosophical.”

Here’s a link to the Twitter picture, if you want to see it up close.
