The Politics of a First Class Upgrade

Forget trying to get an upgrade on Delta Flight 2384—there are 57 people in front of you. The Salt Lake Tribune says the only direct flight from the nation’s capital to Utah’s capital is jam-packed with lawmakers. And on any given flight senators from Utah,  Idaho, Wyoming and Montana are all trying to use their seniority to get a seat in first class.
