Texans Push to Make “Fish-Grabbing” Legal

Written by Pat's Papers | Monday, 16 May 2011 11:06 AM

There’s a big problem in Texas. It’s called fish-grabbing. It’s also called noodling, grabbing and hogging.  The Wall Street Journal says, in the Lone Star state, it is illegal to put your “bare hand into the mouth of a 60-pound catfish and yank it out of a river.” Doing so is a misdemeanor that comes with a $500 fine. “Antinoodlers” say the practice is unfair to the fish, who have no chance to swim away. That doesn’t sit well with everyone, so a private citizen has introduced a bill to make fish-grabbing an accepted way to fish.
