Survey: Women Prefer Pulling Teeth Over Mother-in-Law Visit

Written by Pat's Papers | Monday, 18 October 2010 6:28 AM

If you thought the dreaded in-laws were a Hollywood construct, think again. Thirty-six percent of women say they’d rather visit the gynecologist than their mother-in-law. The New York Post says 28 percent would rather get a root canal. And more than 50 percent would rather stay home and clean than visit their “monster-in-laws.”

The data’s from a survey sponsored by iVilliage, which is, apparently, the place to cavil about your husband’s family. Some other statistics I found interesting: 76 percent of women would never seek parenting advice from a mother-in-law; 83 percent would never ask relationship advice and 93 percent would never ask for sex advice.
