Social Networking Tools for the Anti-Social
Written by Pat's Papers | Monday, 30 August 2010 7:45 AM

There’s a great development for those who have their share of chatty friends. The Washington Post says more companies are creating the equivalent of a mute button that lets you tune out of social network conversations. For $4.99, a new app lets you discretely block anyone’s Twitter stream without them knowing that you’ve done so. The Post says as social networks grow, “users are embracing new ways to politely ignore friends and family, just as they do in the analog world.”

The Twitter-blocking app is called Twittelator Pro but it’s not the only one out there. TweetAgora does the same thing. Block Your Ex lets users, you guessed it, block communication with the ex-girlfriend or boyfriends on a variety of different platforms. And a service called Slydial.com allows its users to leave a voicemail without making the phone ring.
