Silly Bandz a Viral Success


My daughters have been obsessed with these for weeks. Boston Globe columnist Beth Teitell says Silly Bands, the latest in tween fashion, “are so trendy that if they were a person, they?d be Justin Bieber.” Teitell writes that the plastic bracelets, which come in scores of different shapes, meet all the requirements of a modern fad: “Kids can?t stop talking about them; Parents are fighting over limited supplies; Schools are banning them.” Industry experts say the most interesting thing about the plastic-bracelets-in-every-conceivable shape craze is that there hasn’t been any marketing: “It?s 100 percent viral.”
