Ship Asks Permission to Keep Polluting
Written by Pat's Papers | Tuesday, 16 October 2012 8:06 AM

The SS Badger is asking the EPA for permission to continue polluting the Great Lakes, reports the Chicago Tribune. The last coal-burning ship in operation, the owners want a five-year extension to retrofit the vessel with a new engine that burns natural gas. They are also asking for the ship to receive National Historic Landmark, which, if granted, means “the Eisenhower-era ship could pollute the lake indefinitely.”
