Sharapova Applies for Two-Week Name Change


The Times of London seems to have broken this laughable but true “Sugarpova” story about tennis star Maria Sharapova applying for a legal name change. The Guardian says she applied for the sweeter surname in a Florida courtroom with the intention of converting it back after the US Open. I, for one, will ignore this and just call her Sharapova when we read the US Open scores on NY1. Sugarpova didn’t just come out of thin air—it’s a line of candies “that reflects the fun, fashionable, sweet side of international tennis sensation Maria Sharapova”. I, for one, will ignore this and just call her Sharapova when we read the US Open scores on NY1.
