Salt Therapy Gaining Popularity

Salt has been put through the public health ringer recently—the FDA says to eat less of it and Mayor Bloomberg has it in his crosshairs. But the Newark Star-Ledger says something called salt therapy is the “latest hot alternative treatment” for those suffering from respiratory problems. Patients spend 45 minutes in a room coated with salt in hopes that the salt air will free up their air passages. There’s no solid evidence that the treatment works but adherents say salt therapy has been used for centuries.
