Did you know that banana peels relieve the itch from a mosquito bite, coffee grinds give shine and softness to hair and vodka can obliterate odor-causing bacteria? The Kansas City Star put many of the food-related home remedies circulating on the Internet to the test. And it turns out, food is good for a lot more than just eating. Other tricks I can’t wait to try include burned banana leaves and honey to cure hiccups and Coca-Cola to clean a toilet.
Before you go slathering everything in the refrigerator on your face, the Star asked a dermatologist to weigh in on several home remedies for the face.
