Pregnant Cow Gunned Down at State Fair

Written by Pat's Papers | Wednesday, 28 July 2010 10:30 AM

Those planning the Livestock Nursery program at this year’s California State Fair did not expect things to go down like this. Early yesterday morning, a very pregnant cow that was part of the longstanding exhibit freaked out and started running wild around the fairgrounds. After several attempts to calm her down, she was shot says the Sacramento Bee. Both the mother and the calf died.  Luckily, the incident happened before the fair had opened for the day. The exhibit’s organizer says the Livestock Nursery helps “fairgoers connect with their food sources and the agricultural world, while also inspiring future generations of veterinarians.” I bet it will now.
