Opinion: Arizona Immigration Ruling Not a Win

Arizona Republic columnist Laurie Roberts says Governor Jan Brewer is living in “the state of Denial” if she thinks yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling on Arizona’s controversial immigration policy was a win. Roberts reminds us that the the Department of Homeland Security revoked the right of Arizona state and local police to act as immigration agents, which means police must call call the Feds if they want to determine someone’s immigration status during a routine stop.She asks, “how likely are feds to come running when the cops call in a jaywalker who is here illegally?”
