No More Free Meals in the Sky

Continental has joined the pack. The airline announced yesterday that it would end its legacy as the only commercial carrier to provide free meals and snacks to coach passengers. USA Today says the decision “marks the end of an era, when passengers could count on a meal during a flight on a major airline as part of buying a ticket.” The paper says meal service is usually the first to go when airlines begin “unbundling,” the term for charging what used to included in the price of a ticket.
