Nail Showdown: Gel vs. Traditional Polish
Written by Pat's Papers | Wednesday, 3 October 2012 8:05 AM

I’ve got to admit, these hands look identical to me. But apparently, there’s a big difference between a regular old manicure and these new gel-based ones. The Wall Street Journal says gel manicures cost twice as much as the traditional treatment and can last up to two weeks with no chips. The downside? A recent study found that the nails of women who applied gel polish for a year had “weakness, brittleness and thinning” though it’s unclear if that’s from chemicals in the polish or the arduous removal process.
