Mel Gibson Tape Will Likely End His Career

Written by Pat's Papers | Tuesday, 13 July 2010 6:32 AM

Round two of the Mel Gibson meltdown is on the front page of the New York Post this morning. A tape of Gibson’s crazy, vitriolic rant aimed at ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is making its rounds. In it Gibson threatens to both hit and kill Grigorieva, saying at one point “You need a f*cking bat in the side of the head.” I found it so hard to listen to that I turned it off. Hollywood insiders say the tape, coupled with the actor’s increasingly erratic behavior, can only mean one thing for his career: it’s a wrap.

After speaking with studio executives and other Hollywood players, the LA Times agrees with the Post’s diagnosis of Gibson’s career. The actor was dropped by his representation on Friday. And crisis public relations experts told the paper Gibson’s troubles would “challenge the best of their craft.” Ultimately, they say the American public is forgiving, but some scandals push the limits. An PR executive puts it this way: “I don’t think O.J. Simpson will ever make another movie.”

Radar Online released the tape yesterday, listen to it here. A warning: it’s definitely not suitable for work.
