Meet the Product Placement King

He’s one of the most powerful agents in Hollywood. But his client list doesn’t include the usual roster of names. The LA Times has a very interesting profile of Norm Marshall, also known as the product placement king, in today’s paper. He’s the guy who was responsible for that scene when Forrest Gump downs some Dr. Pepper with JFK. He’s also the guy who got USA Today to change their banner to read MARS Today, back in the 1990s to promote “Total Recall.” Marshall says although many despise what he does, it has become more and more important because consumers now have to ability to completely skip through commercials.
