Media Uses ‘Royal We’ To Describe Bin Laden Death

I noticed a pattern when scanning the country’s front pages this morning: the royal we. Maybe a better way of saying it would be the patriotic we. The papers that chose to outline how the raid on Bin Laden’s compound went down almost all opted to grammatically include their audience in the recounting. Only three of the country’s largest 75 papers chose to use ‘they’ instead.
