Madoff Beaten in Prison

The Wall Street Journal has learned that in December, Bernie Madoff was beaten by another inmate.  According to a prison source, Madoff was treated for a “broken nose, fractured ribs and cuts to his head and face.”  Madoff denies being beaten. The Journal says it’s common for inmates to deny being assaulted because they don’t want to get a reputation as a snitch. The paper also says “High-profile inmates may be at additional risk because other inmates may assume they have money or access to other resources.” Seems unlikely that would be Madoff’s problem.
