7-Year-Old’s Lemonade Stand Shut Down For Not Having License
Written by Pat's Papers | Thursday, 5 August 2010 10:50 AM

Inspired by her favorite cartoon pig, a seven-year-old Oregon girl decided that she wanted to run a lemonade stand. With her mother’s help, she got a sign together and set up a booth at a local street fair. But according to the Oregonian, it’s illegal to sell lemonade without a $120 permit. When health inspectors tried to shut her down, there was an outpouring of solidarity from other vendors, who’ve organized a “Lemonade Revolt” for later this month. At the event, people are encouraged to overtake the streets with illegal lemonade enterprises. Defending the action, a health department official says officials “need to put the public’s health first.”
