Researchers are looking into transcranial direct current stimulation, or tDCS, a low-level, electrical stimulation of the brain, thought to improve cognitive skills, motor function and mood. The practice could help those with brain injuries regain their skills or healthy people to master a skill faster. The New York Times says there is growing concern about do-it-yourselfers, some of them video gamers, using tDCS devices with nine-volt batteries to give their brains a boost.
