Boehner Who?
Written by Pat's Papers | Friday, 10 September 2010 10:07 AM

President Obama has found his foil for the midterm elections says the LA Times. The problem? Not many people know who Ohio Rep. John Boehner is. The president mentioned Boehner, perhaps most famous for his excessively tanned skin, ten times in a recent speech; a CNN poll showed that 55 percent of viewers had no idea who he was. Washington insiders say its a technique to detract criticism away from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who is a target of this election’s anti-incumbent fervor. Explains the Times: “To the extent Obama can show that Boehner is a flawed alternative to Pelosi, he helps shore up her position and increase the odds that Boehner doesn’t supplant her as Speaker.”

The president took a shot at Rep. Boehner and his tan skin in his White House Correspondents Dinner speech this year, calling him a “person of color.” Scroll down to watch. Boehner comments begin around 1:20.
