Is Your Restaurant Spying On You?


Santa Claus isn’t the only one keeping a tally of your naughty days and your nice ones. The New York Post says lots of restaurants keep “dossiers” on regular customers. A restaurant-industry program called Open Table allows staff to keep notes tracking anything from your favorite drink or anniversary to notes about your tipping style, attitude and what mean things your latest Yelp review contained.  Industry insiders say it’s less like spying and more like an updated version of the notes old school maitre d’s used to compile. Either way, you probably want to make sure your tipping is in top form.
