Injury Takes Beckham Out of World Cup, Could End Int’l Career

A torn Achilles tendon has ended David Beckham’s aspiration to become the first English player to appear in four World Cups. The Los Angeles Galaxy star injured himself over the weekend while playing on loan for AC Milan. The LA Times says the injury “probably will spell the end of his international career.” Beckham was reportedly in tears over the turn of events, which will likely keep him off the pitch for five to eight months.
