Gun Used to Kill Black Politician in 1970 Found in Police Car
Written by Pat's Papers | Thursday, 29 July 2010 10:16 AM

One of Missouri’s most famous cold cases was reopened after a key piece of evidence—the murder weapon—was found in the backseat of a police car, forty years after it went missing. The Kansas City Star says authorities are using new technology to lift fingerprints from the weapon used to kill a black political leader in 1970. Jordan was considered the state’s most influential black politician when he was gunned down on the eve of an election night. After the case was originally closed in 1976, the gun was sold at a police auction. How it was returned to police custody remains unclear.
