Google Goes on Hiring Spree

Thousands of lucky individuals will get hired by Google this year reports the San Jose Mercury News this morning. The Internet giant announced yesterday that 2011 would be its biggest year yet, as far as hiring was concerned. Google said it plans to hire at least 6,200 employees worldwide and at least 2,000 in the Bay Area. If all goes according to plan, Google would increase in size by 25 percent this year, making it twice as big as Yahoo and six times as large as its nemesis Facebook.

The announcement came on the same day Yahoo announced that it would layoff one percent of its workforce. The Wall Street Journal has more on the company’s recent struggles to stay afloat.

Google says the best way to apply is through it’s website, Google.com/jobs
