Get Ready for Some (Cheerleader- less) Football

The horror. According to USA Today, there are only six teams in the NFL without cheerleaders. And guess what? Two of them will be taking the field this Sunday. Yes, we’re talking about a cheerleader-less Super Bowl, folks—the first one since Super Bowls I and II. The fact that the game is at Cowboys Stadium, well that just adds salt to the wound. The Chicago Bears, the Cleveland Browns, the New York Giants and the Detroit Lions also have no official cheerleaders.

The Packers use college cheerleaders when they play at home. Apparently, the team “discontinued their squad of official cheerleaders in large part due to fan indifference.”  The Steelers used to have a cheers squad, but it was disbanded back in 1970.  Here’s the official page of the disbanded Steelerettes.
