French Fry Sector “Lacks Innovation”

Americans, it seems, are falling out of love with one of their favorite foods: the french fry. According to the United States Potato Board, sales to restaurants have dropped by 500 million pounds since 2007. The Chicago Tribune says part of the problem is that “there’s been very little, if any, innovation across the french fry area.” Burgers have become flame broiled and grass fed and breakfast nowadays could mean anything from a yogurt parfait to a burrito. But french fries have largely resisted the urge to change. I guess the old saying, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it needs to be tweaked.
