Folklorist’s Archives Go Digital

Before his death “folklorist” Alan Lomax envisioned that his archives would be available on a “global jukebox.” Then they invented the Internet and he got his wish. The New York Times says about 17,000 tracks made from Lomax’s collection will be made available to the public by the end of February.
The archive will appear on Global Jukebox.com, where five of Lomax’s recordings are already available for purchase. Below is Lomax recording taken at a southern prison:
