Fight to Keep “Phonehenge West” Standing Tall

Some men have a cave to call their own—Alan Kimble Fahey has a castle. But for how long, says the LA Times, is up in the air. Fahey, who’s a phone service technician by trade, has spent 30 years assembling his “20,000-square-foot labyrinth of buildings,” which he has named Phonehenge West. But zoning officials say the house is not up to code and want him to tear it down. So he’s going to court.

The house, which is only 80 percent finished, has many admirers—it’s been called an architectural wonder, is constantly photographed by passersby and was recently used as the backdrop for a Glamour photo shoot. There’s even a Facebook page dedicated to its preservation.

Check out these awesome photos of Fahey’s house—it looks kind of like a treehouse on steroids.
