FameTown Makes Game Out of Hollywood

Written by Pat's Papers | Monday, 18 October 2010 7:43 AM

Talk about meta. The game that is making it in Hollywood just got its own game says the New York Times. Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner is launching a new Facebook game in the style of Farmville and MafiaWars today. It’s called FameTown.  And instead of raising animals or taking people out, the point of the social game is to raise your celebrity from the D list to the A. As in real-life, attending the right fundraisers can bolster a career, as can hiring the right agent.

FameTown plans to make money by selling virtual goods to players.  The Times says Eisner’s project represents the latest efforts of Hollywood to jump on the social media bandwagon.
