Dutch Speed Skater Disqualified for Lane Change

A rare gaffe last night cost a Dutch speed skater the gold and perhaps, cost his coach a job. Sven Kramer was leading the pack in the 10,000-meter long-track speed skating when his coach mistakenly told him to switch to the outside lane says the San Jose Mercury News. Kramer was immediately disqualified for an “illegal lane change.”

Click here to hear Kramer interviewed by Dutch reporters. He definitely does not hide his displeasure with his coach. Kramer seems to have developed a knack for curt interviews, he made news in the Netherlands earlier in the week when he refused to be interviewed by an American reporter from NBC:
