When did everyone get so impolite? The Wall Street Journal writes a “digital requiem” for a word that’s gone missing from many modern communications: dear. Considered too intimate by some and an ignorable formality by others, the salutation has slowly been disappearing from letters and emails. But an etiquette expert told the Journal that, especially in a business setting, “people who don’t start communications with ‘dear’ lack polish.”
