Doctors at the University of Mississippi say they have cured a baby born with HIV, reports the Clarion Ledger this morning. It’s the first time doctors have made such a claim and they credit a staff pediatrician with using an unusually aggressive treatment. Dr. Hannah Gay says she began treating the infant within 30 hours of birth and continued until child was 18 months old. Now two-and-a-half years old, the child has a healthy immune system.
