“Can You Hear Me Now?” Guy Sick of That Question
Written by Pat's Papers | Friday, 15 April 2011 8:13 AM

Yes, he can hear you. There’s an odd story in the New York Post this morning about the actor who played the “Can you hear me now?” guy in all those Verizon commercials. Paul Marcarelli says, “don’t feel bad for me, but I’m definitely glad that chapter is over.” Apparently, the Verizon gig made him so well-known someone actually whispered, “can you hear me now?” at his grandmother’s funeral as her body was being lowered into her grave in silence. Marcarelli said it got so bad that he had to stop wearing his trademark glasses so people wouldn’t recognize him.
The Post article summarizes a longer, very good profile of Marcarelli done by the Atlantic.
